新年明けましておめでとうございます。
皆様には、健やかに新春を迎えられたこととお慶び申し上げます。NF-JLEP Association発足から二年が経ち、旧年中はフェローへの支援を拡充することができました。
3月には、初等中等教育の現役日本語教師であるNF-JLEPフェローの皆様への支援を強化するため、新たなサポートプログラム「NF-JLEP日本訪問プログラム」を立ち上げました。第一回プログラムの参加者募集に対し、たくさんの応募をいただき、厳正なる選考の結果、参加者5名を決定致しました。まもなく参加者の皆様が来日されますが、充実した日本滞在となるように事務局では準備を整えお待ちしています。また、本年も第二回（2021年1月実施の予定）の参加者を募集する予定です。多くのフェローの皆様にこのプログラムをご自身の教育活動に活かしていただきたいと考えています。
「NF-JLEP訪日研究フェローシップ」では、初めて大学院生の訪日研究を支援しました。また、約一年にわたる訪日研究を終えたフェローの報告会も開催しました。日本での研究成果を生かし、各国の日本語教育に貢献する研究者となることを期待しています。報告会や研究内容の詳細は、記事一覧をご覧ください。
そして昨年も、インドネシア、ルーマニア、トルコ、ニュージーランドの運営委員並びにフェローの皆様が事務局を訪問してくださり、各校のプログラムの運営状況や研究内容について、より深く理解することができました。事務局からは、オーストラリアのモナシュ大学、マコーリー大学と、ルーマニアのブカレスト大学を訪問いたしました。訪問にあたってご協力くださった運営委員の皆様には、改めて感謝致します。
2020年はより多くの運営委員並びにフェローの皆様と交流を深めていきたいと考えています。来日される際は、ぜひ事務局までご一報ください。
日本では令和の時代が始まり、東京オリンピックの開催が迫ってまいりました。世界中から日本へと注目がそそがれる年になりそうです。日本語に親しむフェローの皆様におかれましては、日本をPRする存在になっていただくことを期待しています。
事務局では今年も引き続き、運営委員並びにフェローの皆様とともに、日本語教育の推進に貢献する活動に取り組んでまいります。

Happy New Year from the NF-JLEP Association!
All of us in the NF-JLEP Association secretariat wish to convey our sincerest thanks to NF-JLEP management committee members and fellows who expressed interest in Japan and the Japanese language and to all those who contributed to enhancing Japanese-language education around the world.
We’re happy to report on the efforts we’ve made to further expand support for NF-JLEP fellows over the past year.
In March 2019, we launched the “NF-JLEP Visit Japan Program” for NF-JLEP fellows who currently teach Japanese at a primary or secondary school. Five participants were selected from among the many applicants, and they will be the first group to be invited to Japan under the program in January 2020. We’re looking forward to welcoming them and are now making the necessary preparations to ensure that their stay will be fruitful. This year, we plan to announce a call for applications for the program to be held in January 2021. We hope that many NF-JLEP fellows will take advantage of this program to enhance their teaching of the Japanese language.
We also supported the first graduate student to conduct research in Japan under the “Research Grant for NF-JLEP Fellows” program. The fellow who spent a year in Japan completed her research and made a final presentation. We hope the research results will help participating fellows advance their careers and contribute to enhancing Japanese education in their home countries. Please find details of their research and presentations in “Topics (Japanese only).”
During 2019, we welcomed NF-JLEP committee members and fellows from Indonesia, Romania, Turkey, and New Zealand to our office, which helped deepen our understanding of the programs and research activities in each country. We visited Monash University and Macquarie University in Australia and the University of Bucharest in Romania. We would once again like to express our gratitude to committee members for their warm hospitality during our visit.
We hope to further deepen our ties with NF-JLEP committee members and fellows in 2020. Please let us know if you have plans to come to Japan.
Japan has entered the second year of the Reiwa era. In July, the world’s attention will be drawn to Japan as Tokyo hosts the Olympic and Paralympic Games. We hope that NF-JLEP fellows will help portray a positive image of Japan and the Japanese language at that time. On our part, we intend to make ongoing efforts to support the activities of Japanese language teachers and researchers around the world.
